JG Summit Petrochemical Corporation (JGSPC) is the first integrated polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) plant in the Philippines. It is a joint venture between JG Summit Holdings Inc. of the Philippines and Marubeni Corporation of Japan. It was incorporated in 1994 and was registered and given pioneer status by the Board of Investments in the same year.
In 1995, the $350 million plant was constructed in Barangay Simlong, Batangas City, and commercial operation commenced in 1998. JGSPC is the latest addition to various chemicals and petroleum refining concerns along Batangas Bay.
The company has a rated capacity of 200,000 MT per year for Polyethylene (PE) and 180,000 MT for Polypropylene (PP). JGSPC manufactures High Density and Linear Low Density Polyethylene (HDPE & LLDPE) as well as Random Copolymer and Homopolymer (PP) using the industry renowned UNIPOL technology from Union Carbide Corporation (now Univation for PE and DOW for PP).
